UPDATE: Police confirm identity of body found in Melling

Merseyside Police can confirm the identify of the man whose body was discovered in the River Alt in the Melling area this morning (Friday 9 August 2019).
Emergency services were called at around 7am and the body was recovered just after 9am.
The body has now been identified as 55 year-old Peter Francis Curry who was from the Kirkby area.
Mr Curry’s next of kin have been informed and a post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
Road closures have now been lifted in the Melling area.
