Unconscious Person Rescued After Flat Fire in Crosby
Emergency services responded to a serious incident in Crosby Village this afternoon, temporarily closing roads in the area. Witnesses reported seeing multiple emergency vehicles, including three Incident Response Units, heading towards Moor Lane near the Home Bargains store.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flat fire at a property on Moor Lane at around 12:58 PM today (Friday, January 17). Crews arrived shortly after 1 PM to find a blaze on the second floor of the building. Firefighters quickly entered the flat wearing breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
One person was rescued from the flat in an unconscious but breathing condition. Firefighters provided first aid at the scene before handing the individual over to the North West Ambulance Service for further care. Adjacent flats were also evacuated as a precaution, and one other occupant was safely escorted from the building.
By the afternoon, the fire had been brought under control, and residents were allowed to return to Grove Court. A fire investigation officer is currently on-site to assess the cause of the incident.
Road closures remain in place on Richmond Road between The Northern Road and Grove Court while emergency services continue their work.
