Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder of a man in Sefton earlier today
Merseyside Police have arrested two men after a murder on Eastbourne Road in Southport this evening, Thursday 22nd April. It was originally thought that the man passed away in a road traffic collision.
A 23-year-old man and a 32-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Dozens of police officers attended the scene, where a man received air ambulance treatment following the attack. Air ambulance paramedics were called and landed at nearby Compton Road park.
Merseyside Police said: “We have arrested two people this evening (Thursday 22 April) on suspicion of murder in Southport.”
“At around 4.50pm, emergency services were called to Eastbourne Road where the body of a 32-year-old man was found.”
Officers remain at the scene while forensic and witness enquiries are carried out.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Vaughan said: “An investigation is underway following this tragic incident and we are keen to speak to anyone with information which could assist our enquiries.”
