Trains suspended due to a Person being hit by a train in Freshfield

We can confirm that a person has been hit by a train at Fisherman's Path level crossing which is by Freshfield Train Station this evening. Services on the Southport Line are currently suspended.
A spokesperson from Merseyrail said: “Due to reports of a person sadly being hit by a train in the Freshfield area- services are currently suspended between Hall Road and Southport.”
“A rail replacement bus service has been requested but is not yet in operation.”
Further information will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
Our deepest sympathies are with the families and the train driver at this sad time.

-2321 Hunts Cross (2338 Liverpool Central) to Southport
-2355 Liverpool Central to Kirkby
UPDATE Wednesday 3rd February:
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line close to Freshfield station at 10pm last night following reports of a casualty on the tracks.”
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
