Three schools from Sefton were crowned winners at the Educate Awards on Friday 18 November.

• #Litherland High School took home The Communication Award

• #Maghull High School won the Outstanding Commitment to STEM category

• St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School #Bootle won the Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Primary School category

The Communication Award, sponsored by CPMM Media Group, was won by Litherland High School.

The school prioritises connecting with its students using contemporary methods. The school communicates through print, social media, digital signage, and its website, also inviting guest speakers and holding events.

The school also created ‘The Well-Being Zine’ during Mental Health Awareness Week, to offer tips and resources for students to help them with their wellbeing.

Maghull High School was crowned the winner of the Outstanding Commitment to STEM category, sponsored by All About STEM.

Maghull High School is continually developing and expanding its STEM club and delivers a multitude of associated opportunities and activities to students.

Since its inception in 2016, its lead teacher has built a thriving club which gives its regular attendees, as well as students across the whole school, a chance to experience real-life STEM and discover the multitude of exciting careers which STEM has to offer.

St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School in #Bootle won the Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Primary School category, sponsored by LSSP.

The primary school received this award as a result of its achievements such as the Platinum School Games Mark in recognition of its commitment to school sport, clubs, and competition.

In the 2021/22 academic year, the school had the highest number of entries into competitions in South Sefton.

There were also two Runner ups from Sefton - Teacher Of The Year - Stephanie Wardale, #Hillside High School, Sefton and also Great #Crosby Catholic Primary School who were Runners Up for Outstanding Commitment to STEM

Now in its eleventh year, the Educate Awards showcases the hard work and creativity that takes place in the education sector, from STEM and performing arts to sport and literacy.

The awards also recognise the individuals who bring schools and colleges to life, from inspiring teachers and dedicated support staff to efficient business managers and strategic leadership teams.

In partnership with Copyrite Systems and Ricoh, the Educate Awards took place at the Liverpool Cathedral and welcomed over 600 guests. The evening was hosted by broadcaster, Simon ‘Rossie’ Ross.

Alongside the awards ceremony was a delicious three course gala dinner and glittering entertainment from St Bede’s Catholic High School’s very own saxophonist and chamber choir, a dance performance from Archbishop Beck Catholic College and a Legally Blonde The Musical medley by St Mary’s Catholic College, Wallasey.

Kim O’Brien, founder of the Educate Awards, said: “Congratulations to the Sefton schools that won at this year’s Educate Awards!

“A big well done to the runners up and finalists too. Results this year were incredibly close, and judges had a difficult time deciding not only the shortlist but also overall the winners.

Kim added: “The Educate Awards team is proud to champion the innovation, diversity and dedication that is taking place in educational establishments around the region. Entries will open again in February 2023 and we encourage all types of schools and colleges to submit as many entries as they like, for free.”
