The Classic and Speed event in Southport was a great success and Mayor of Sefton said it was awesome
Thousands of people headed to Southport yesterday, Sunday 10th October, to enjoy the brand new event named ‘Classic and Speed’, celebrating some of the greatest cars and other vehicles ever made.
There was a themed display of around 250 veteran, vintage, classic and modern cars from all periods at Victoria Park, followed by a grand parade along Lord Street and the promenade at 5:30pm, the location of the original 1903 Speed Trial course.
Admission was free and other attractions included marque and car club displays, local crafts, food and drink stalls and a shopping village.
Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Clare Carragher, attended the event and also performed the ceremonial flag drop for the parade.
The Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Clare Louise Carragher said: “OMG I have had the best day at Southport classic car show. Thank you so much for inviting me it was awesome. I do hope this will be on the calendar for Southport every year. Great turn out, great weather and great people and a fantastic venue Victoria Park Southport.”
The event was organised by Aintree Circuit Club, which already runs the very successful Ormskirk Motorfest in Lancashire.
The event is sponsored by Cataclean and supported by Porsche Centre Preston.
