Southport Offshore Rescue team responded to a missing person report off the Sefton coast
Southport Lifeboat responded to an urgent out yesterday, April 5, 2024, at 00:37hrs. The call came immediately after their routine weekly training session.
Following a request from HM Coastguard, the crew mobilised to aid in the search for a missing individual in the vicinity of Hightown. Utilising quad bikes, the team combed the shoreline up to the River Alt, while deploying their unmanned aerial system (UAS Drone) to survey the dunes and surrounding pathways to the south. Ultimately, the missing person was located by Coastguard Rescue Teams, prompting the stand-down of Southport Lifeboat's units, which returned to base after cleanup procedures.
Notable participants in the coordinated effort included HM Coastguard Southport, HM Coastguard Crosby, RNLI New Brighton Lifeboat Station, Merseyside Police, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, and the NHS Hazardous Area Response Team.
Well done to everyone involved!
