Royal Visit Delights Merchant Taylors' School in Sefton
In a grand display of regal charm, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Anne, graced the grounds of Merchant Taylors' yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 16th April, much to the delight of the entire community.
The anticipation soared as Princess Anne descended from the skies, arriving on the Boys' School field via helicopter, a spectacle that left onlookers in awe.
This momentous occasion marked a special engagement in the local area, underscoring the profound significance of the visit.
The school community stood united in warm welcome, cherishing the rare opportunity to host royalty within their midst. It was a day to be cherished and remembered, as the presence of Princess Anne left an indelible mark on Merchant Taylors' and its cherished traditions.
The Princess Royal was making a visit to Merseyside to mark the 30th anniversary of a carers centre.
Princess Anne opened Sefton Carers Centre in Waterloo in 1994, and returned to join the milestone celebrations. The centre provides support to those looking after a loved one or a friend.
Princess Anne is the the president of the Carers Trust
The visit not only celebrated the centre’s past and present commitments, but also inspired renewed dedication of supporting carers moving forward, a Sefton Carers Centre spokesman said.
John Harrison (Merchant Taylor) founded Merchant Taylors’ School, Crosby on the current Senior Girls’ School site in 1620.
This year they will be 404 years old!
