Pontins holiday park in Ainsdale closed with immediate effect
Pontins #Southport which is in Shore Road, #Ainsdale has closed with immediate effect from today, Wednesday 3rd January 2024.
Owners of Pontins, Britannia Hotels, today confirmed news of the closure of their site in #Ainsdale. This follows the closure of Prestatyn and Camber Sands in November 2023 when hundreds of holidaymakers were left with nowhere to go.
Staff were told of the shock news today by text messages and an announcement was made on their website which said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Pontins Southport Holiday Park. After assessing the future viability of the park, we have come to the difficult decision to close our doors. Unfortunately, this means that Pontins Southport Holiday Park will be closing from Wednesday 3rd January 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Bookings are no longer being accepted on the site.

The Pontins holiday camp site was evacuated on New Year’s Day because of flooding.
The once popular holiday destination was opened in 1970 at a cost of £2.5m.
It hosted members of the British Military in 2020 as they were deployed to assist healthcare workers in stopping the spread of Covid-19.
The other remaining Pontins resorts are at Pakefield Holiday Village in Suffolk and Sand Bay Holiday Village in Weston-super-Mare.
If you have booked a stay at Pontins in Southport, Pontins officials should be in touch with you to offer you a full refund for your booking.
The Pontins chain was bought out of administration by Britannia Hotels in 2011 for about £20 million. Last year it was named as the worst value holiday park in the UK by Which. Britannia Hotels have 61 hotels across the UK.
Would make a great site for a sea life centre
