A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital after being shot in the arm in a park in Netherton.
Merseyside Police confirmed that officers were called to Killen Green Park, on Granams Croft, at around 11:15 am on Thursday, March 7, following reports of a shooting. It was reported that the victim had left the scene before being located by emergency services nearby.
Police have since established three cordons as part of the investigation: one next to Bootle and Netherton Community Fire Station, one at Killen Green Park, and another on Granams Croft. A bicycle was seen inside the cordon on Granams Croft, with forensic officers also working at a nearby bungalow.
Detective Inspector John Mullen said: “The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at around 11:15 am this morning who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell camera.”
“We know that guns cause misery on our streets, and we would ask for the public’s help in coming forward with any information they have so we can find those responsible. Merseyside Police is committed to removing firearms from our streets and bringing offenders to justice. We ask our communities to help us by coming forward and telling us what they know.”
