Police and Fire were called to a BMW X5 that was on fire in Southport

Police are investigating following an incident in the Southport area in the early hours of this morning, Friday, 21 June.

Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue service were called at around 4.20am to Knowsley Road after being informed that a car, believed to be a BMW X5 was on fire.

No one was injured during the incident and the fire has since been extinguished.

The fire is being treated as arson and enquiries are ongoing in the local area. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
