Merseyside Police put TEN Dispersal Zones in place across Sefton to cover Mischief Night & Halloween

Merseyside Police have put TEN Dispersal Zones in place across Sefton which will cover Mischief Night and Halloween Night in most areas.
SOUTHPORT:
There is a dispersal zone in place in #Southport town centre and seafront today, Saturday 30th October 2021 starting at 15:00hrs and lasting until 15:00hrs on Monday.
Description of the area Southport … outlined by Marine Drive, Esplanade, Promenade, Coronation Walk, Portland Street, Talbot Street, Eastbank Street, Virginia Street, Southport Railway Station, Hall Street, Hawkshead Street, Queens Road, Park Road, Park Road West, Promenade, Fairway (See map)
Within this area, police officers or PCSO's have the power (under certain circumstances) to:
• Require anyone to leave the area and prevent them from returning for up to 48 hours.
• Require a person to surrender items that can be used to cause anti-social behaviour.
• Send under 16s home or to a place of safety.
• Arrest anyone who ignores the instruction.

BIRKDALE:
There is a dispersal zone in place in Birkdale today, Saturday 30th October 2021 starting at 15:00hrs and lasting until 15:00hrs on Monday.
The area of the dispersal zone is outlined by Lulworth Road, Aughton Road, Upper Aughton Road, Eastbourne Road, Crescent Road, Grosvenor Road. Waterloo Road (see map)
Within this area, police officers or PCSO's have the power (under certain circumstances) to:
• Require anyone to leave the area and prevent them from returning for up to 48 hours.
• Require a person to surrender items that can be used to cause anti-social behaviour.
• Send under 16s home or to a place of safety.
• Arrest anyone who ignores the instruction.

FORMBY:
We introduced a Dispersal Zone in the Duke Street park area of Formby on Friday 29th October in response to continued reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
The order runs from Friday at 4pm until 3.59pm on Sunday 31ST October. Officers will be in the area to provide a visible presence and deal with any incidents.
The Dispersal Zone covers the area of Long Lane Footpath, Church Road, Liverpool Road, Altcar Lane, Hoggs Hill Lane, the Railway line, Kirklake Road, Woodlands Road, Wicks Lane and Freshfield Road.
The order comes under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2014, which gives police officers and police community support traffic officers powers to direct people they suspect are causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to members of the public to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours.
Under the legislation, officers have the power to seize any item used in the commission of anti-social behaviour.
If someone has previously been told to leave the area by an officer but then returns, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested for.
