Merseyside Fire & Rescue are in attendance with 6 fire engines and aerial appliance and advise people to stay away
Fire crews have been called to a fire at a house on Leven Street, off Westminster Road in Kirkdale, Liverpool, this afternoon. Crews were alerted at 2.37pm and on scene at 2.41pm, with six fire engines and an aerial appliance in attendance.
Crews arrived to find a three storey end terraced property containing flats with the ground floor fully involved in fire. Two firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the property and began fighting the fire with a hose reel jet and searching for occupants while firefighting also took place from the outside of the property. A full evacuation also began.
The fire is also affecting two further properties and has been divided into sectors. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are firefighting at the rear of the building using a main branch hose. An aerial appliance is being set up and hydrant feeds have been established. North West Ambulance Service are also at the scene.
The incident is ongoing and generating significant amounts of smoke – pedestrians and motorists should avoid the area. Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed, keep medicines for any existing conditions near and if any ill effects are experienced, dial NHS 111 for advice.
