Man arrested after spending over 4 hours on a rooftop in Waterloo
**UPDATE** at 1:30am -
Merseyside Police can confirm the man who was on the roof in South Road, #Waterloo (Wednesday, 26 June) is now safely down from the roof and has been taken into custody at 01:30am this morning.
All roads in the area have been reopened.
UPDATE at 11:35pm:
Merseyside Police have just released this update at 23:35hrs -
“We are currently in attendance in Waterloo this evening (Wednesday, 26 June) after reports of a man on a roof. Just before 9pm, a call was received of a man in his 40’s on a roof in South Road.”
“Officers are at the scene with specially trained negotiators.”
“Road closures are currently in place in South Road and Hougoumont Avenue and traffic is being diverted away from the area for public safety”
UPDATE at 10pm:
The man remains on the rooftop on South Road for over two hours now. Bystanders said he was thought to be upset after a domestic argument but we cannot confirm that at this time. Police have blocked off South Road from the train station to the bottom. Road is blocked for cars and also people walking. Merseyside Fire & Rescue are now also in attendance. We will keep you updated.

We have been informed there is a police situation on South Road in Waterloo. It appears a man is threatening to jump off the roof of a building. Road is blocked off. Police and ambulance in attendance. We will keep you updated as soon as we have any more information.
