Major Fire at Maghull Town Hall – Emergency Services on Scene
Emergency services are currently responding to a significant fire at #Maghull Town Hall on Hall Lane, Maghull. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident at 11:55 AM and arrived on the scene at 12:09 PM. Ten fire engines and two aerial appliances are currently tackling the blaze, which has engulfed the roof space of the three-storey building, measuring approximately 50x30m.
Firefighters are working in multiple sectors, using hose reel jets and main branches to fight the fire externally. An aerial appliance is being deployed to help contain the flames, and water supplies have been secured. Merseyside Police are also in attendance, maintaining cordons and assisting with road closures.

The fire has now been sectorised:
• Sector 1: Three hose reel jets and one aerial appliance are being used to fight the fire externally.
• Sector 2: One hose reel jet and one main branch are in operation.
• Sector 3: Firefighters are using a hose reel jet to create a fire break between Maghull Town Hall and Meadows Health Centre to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Public Safety and Road Closures
Sefton Council is urging residents to avoid the area while emergency crews work to bring the fire under control. Nearby businesses and homes should keep windows and doors closed due to the thick smoke in the area. Several temporary road closures are being put in place to assist emergency services, with details to follow.
Evacuation and Community Response
Meadows Leisure Centre, located next to the town hall, has been safely evacuated. Staff acted swiftly to ensure the safety of visitors, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
Eyewitnesses have described seeing large plumes of black smoke rising from the building, with some reporting visible flames coming from the roof. Maghull Town Hall, home to Maghull Town Council and The Venue wedding venue, has suffered severe damage, particularly to its roof structure.
