Ince Woods is to remain closed in both directions overnight due to unsafe trees
Emergency services were called to an RTC at 11:45am this morning due to Storm Debi which has battered the #Sefton area today with gale force winds.
A tree fell in Ince Woods onto a car and almost killing the occupants who were extremely lucky. The car suffered a smashed windscreen.
It has now been confirmed that the road will remain completely closed until tomorrow due to unsafe trees.
An eyewitness at the scene said: "There were no injuries for the man and woman in car, they both got out of the car okay and were just shaken. There was one car involved from what I could see and only the windscreen was smashed."
Police closed off the road immediately in both directions. A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "Please be advised that Ince woods, A565, Ince Blundell is closed in both directions, due to a fallen tree and several other unsafe trees."
"The road will be closed for most of the day and into the night which may affect travel into Formby and Southport."
A spokesperson from Sefton Council said: "Due to a fallen tree, the A565 & Lady Green Lane are both currently closed. Avoid the area and seek an alternative route if travel is necessary."
