House fire in Kirkdale involving a number of houses this morning
Fire crews have been called to a fire involving a number of houses this morning in Great Mersey Street, Kirkdale L5.
Crews were alerted at 4.18am and on scene at 4.23am. Six fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.
Crews arrived to find the roof of a mid terrace property well alight and began to tackle the fire with hose reel jets. The fire was affecting properties either side and residents were evacuated.
Firefighters entered the property which was the source of the fire wearing breathing apparatus and the aerial appliance was set up to tackle the fire from above. The fire was also fought at the rear of the building with a hose reel jet and a main branch hose.
The fire has spread to multiple properties in the terrace with firefighters removing roof tiles to get to the fire. Residents involved have all evacuated and are all safe an accounted for.
Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed. Those with an existing health condition should keep medicines nearby and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111.
Merseyside Police are also in attendance. The incident is ongoing.
