Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Park raised £40k for the first phase to refurbish the play area
Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Park have been working on a plan to refurbish Coronation Park play area and have so far raised £40,000!!
A spokesperson from Friends of Alexandra and Coronation Park said: “We are so excited to confirm that our local ward councillors have committed £20,000 to our play area project and Green Sefton are going to match the funding! This will allow us to kick start our first phase of the project.”
Councillor Christine Howard said: “We, as ward councillors, understand the importance of outdoor play for the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of our children. We also know that an inclusive park that can be used by the whole community will benefit all residents and help reduce anti-social behaviour. We are delighted to be able to allocate a significant amount that the Friends can use to apply for match funding and see their ambitious plans become reality.”
Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Park want to create a destination park which gives a ‘wow’ factor and uplifts the area. They want to ensure that children living with a disability have an equal right to play, especially addressing issues raised by the charity Scope in their ‘Let’s Play Fair’ campaign.
It is their hope that by improving this local facility it would have a great impact on the surrounding area, improve the sense of community, reduce anti-social behaviour and provide a platform to hold cultural and entertaining events.
A spokesperson from Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Park continued: “We are really grateful to some of the local businesses who have contacted us to pledge donations! Thankyou.”
Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Park continue to look for sponsorship for the other phases of their amazing project. Please get in touch if you or a business would like to help with sponsorship.
