ECOGEE TO HELP SEFTON RESIDENTS STAY WARM & AVOID FUEL POVERTY THIS WINTER AS PART OF NEW CAMPAIGN

Sefton Council has partnered with Energy and Construction specialists Ecogee to fit 100 homes in the borough with brand new central heating systems as part of a newly funded scheme.

Since its establishment in 2012 in response to the Government’s Energy Efficiency Programme, Ecogee has quickly become a leading provider of ECO grants across the North West and the firm’s work with Sefton Council aims to improve energy efficiency and enhance the quality of life for residents in the area.

The first-time central heating grant, which is £2,600 for owner occupiers and £1,900 for tenants renting privately, is part of the Heat 100 scheme and will allow the Liverpool based firm to install much needed heating systems to residents.

Eligible residents must already have gas at their property, household income of £30,000 or less and Energy Performance Certificate rating of D, E, F, or G.

Managing Director Brendan Helm said: “In 2019 it was reported that upward of 3.18 million people in the UK were living in fuel poverty, which is just staggering. This can include those facing high fuel costs, expensive or inefficient heating systems, poor quality of housing or lack insulation in your home. This scheme means that we can help the most vulnerable in our local areas, at a time when they need it most.”

The 60-strong team at Ecogee have been using their skills to help those suffering from fuel poverty since their launch almost ten years ago. It has continued to work hard to provide energy saving solutions to households in the UK and tackle the country’s fuel poverty crisis. In 2021, the firm was able to deliver 5,633 energy saving measures across Liverpool and the North West as part of its Energy Companies Obligation (ECO).

With only enough funding for 100 homes.

Ecogee is urging residents to get in touch as soon as possible to secure their free central heating system.
