Detectives issue new CCTV appeal following stabbing on Southport Road, Bootle
Detectives investigating an assault in Bootle earlier this year have issued an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
At around 2.25pm on Wednesday 7 April, Merseyside Police received a report that a 12-year-old boy had been stabbed in the leg at an address on Southport Road.
The next day, Thursday 8 April, officers arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of Section 18 Wounding. He was later released from bail under investigation pending further enquiries.
The victim was taken to hospital for his injuries. He was later discharged and is recovering well.
Following new information from a member of the public, police have issued an image of a man they believe has information to assist the investigation and are appealing for anyone who recognises the man to come forward.
Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “This was an extremely shocking incident for the local community which saw a young boy injured.“
“While we made a swift arrest shortly after the incident, our extensive enquiries continue, and we hope that this image recently provided by a member of the public will encourage people to come forward.“
“If you recognise the man pictured or witnessed anything suspicious at the time of the incident and have yet to get in touch, then please let us know. While some months have passed, rest assured that information you hold could be vital to our investigation.“
“Whether you get in touch with us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
