Christmas Light Switch On's across Sefton - Everything you need to know!
Updated: Nov 15, 2019
Sefton switches on to a very merry Christmas 2019. Festive fun is just around the corner as town and village centres across Sefton get ready to switch on their 2019 Christmas lights. We have details of Christmas Lights Switch On events in #Southport, #Crosby, #Seaforth, #Bootle, #Hightown, #Formby, #Thornton, #Netherton, #Maghull, #Melling and #Litherland.
Christmas themed events will be taking place in numerous locations throughout the borough, with a range of festive fun for all the family. The events, starting with the Southport BID Christmas Lights Switch On on Sunday 17th November, are delivered through a number of different ways including partnership between business communities, local residents, voluntary and charity organisations, and Sefton Council.
Funding is secured through the private, voluntary and public sector to encourage people to shop local in the run up to Christmas.
A spokesman for Sefton Council said: “Christmas lights switch-ons always prove to be popular events and are a great opportunity for local people and families to get into the festive spirit.”
“We hope plenty of people will come out and support their local traders in the run up to Christmas and shop local, and we are very grateful for the hard work and community spirit which goes into these important events.”
Southport BID Christmas Lights Switch On is Sunday 17th November from 1pm
Christmas is on its way and Southport BID have announced a huge line up for our switch on this year! Expect a full day of magical entertainment as Southport lights up headlined by non other then Peter Andre!
The star will head up a line-up that will also include Wet Wet Wet and Liberty X singer Kevin Simm, who won the Voice UK in 2017 and 80’s Liverpool legend Sonia. Children’s headliner this year is the brilliant Sid, original CBeebies presenter and star of 'Let's Play'. Aimed at young children aged two to seven, Sid will put on a funny and entertaining one man show that will delight kids and parents alike.
This year’s presenter bringing the show together will be TV presenter and former Heart Breakfast presenter Joel and the whole event will culminate in the switching on of the spectacular light show tree installation from Southport BID and fireworks from the roof of The Atkinson.
The entertainment begins at 1pm on Lord Street, Sunday 17th of November, with the lights being turned on at 5.30pm.
