Man rushed to hospital with head injuries after being found lying in the road in Bootle

Merseyside Police can confirm that they are in attendance at an incident in Bootle today, Sunday 20 May 2018. Just before 1pm, a report was received that a man was found in Fernhill Road with head injuries lying next to a pedal cycle.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Road closures are in place to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident along Fernhill Road including Earl Road and Oxford Road. Officers could be seen placing yellow forensic markers in the road, near the speed bumps on Fernhill Road, while a laser scanner was used to build a 3D map of the scene. A pile of what appeared to be clothing was left on the floor near the speed bumps, seemingly stained with blood. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. If you have any information, please call 101
