Merseyside Police have recovered three firearms from a van in Bootle
Merseyside Police have recovered three firearms in Bootle from a van following enquiries yesterday, Tuesday 24 April. Specialist officers carried out a search of a suspected stolen Ford Transit Connect van which had been found abandoned in Breeze Hill, Bootle. Within the vehicle, two sawn-off shotguns and a rifle were located and made safe. They have been recovered for forensic enquiries to be carried out. Enquiries are ongoing to identify users of the vehicle and any linked offences. Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "It is pleasing to see another three firearms removed from the streets of Merseyside, and we will be working to establish if they are linked to any recent incidents on Merseyside or elsewhere. "Every gun we find removes a weapon that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm to the people of Merseyside, and clearly each of these weapons have the potential to cause serious fear and risks to people in the area. "If anyone has any information about those involved in gun crime, or who knows where weapons are being stored, please keep contacting us so that these positive results continue." Anyone with information on the storage and use of firearms can contact @MerPolCC, call our gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
