Attackers who left a man from Stanley Road paralysed, have been sentenced today
Officers have today (23rd April) welcomed the sentencing of a man and woman responsible for the brutal attack on a man which left him paralysed from the neck down.
On the 18th May last year, Ryan Mutch (39) of Acanthus Road, Liverpool and Natalie Brabin (34) of Lawrence Road, Liverpool were involved in an altercation with the victim, a 46 year old man, inside a property on Stanley Road.
Following the incident, the victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a serious and unfortunately, life changing injury.
Today, the pair pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and were collectively sentenced to 15 and a half years in prison. Mutch received 12.5 years and Brabin received 3 years for Section 18 assault.
Detective Sergeant Gary Stratton said: “This was an absolutely horrendous attack which has left the victim paralysed due to the severity of his injuries. This will have ultimately changed his life forever, something that we cannot look upon lightly."
“Although this sentence will never give the victim back his old life, I hope this gives him some closure and the opportunity to move forward.”
