Former DJ and lorry driver jailed for seven years after admitting child sex abuse
A lorry driver and former DJ has been jailed for seven years for sexually abusing a child.
Michael Wright, age 49, was jailed after pleading guilty to nine charges of sexual abuse, including three counts of rape.
Michael Wright, of Guildford Road, Birkdale, Southport, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on September 30 after committing the horrific attacks on the child earlier this year.
The former Birkdale High School student was well known in the community as a member of the Scotch Piper Classic Car Club and regularly took his kit car to the Ormskirk Motor Show and the Woodvale Rally.
He most recently worked as lorry driver for Skelmersdale company Kanmac, but previously spent time as DJ and barman at venues around Southport including the Fox and Goose and the former Manhattans nightclub.
A source familiar with the case has said that the severity of the abuse has also led Police officers to raise concerns over whether this was Wright’s first attack.
