Formby Hockey Club presented with cheque from Waitrose Community Matters Fund
Formby Hockey Club were recently presented with a cheque for £560 from Waitrose' Community Matters Fund.
They would like to express their thanks to Waitrose and to all Formby residents who donated their green token. The money will be used to support their Hockey Development Project which is now in it's fifth year.
The project provides curriculum time hockey coaching in six of the seven primary schools in Formby - Trinity St. Peter's, Woodlands, St. Jerome's, Freshfield, St. Luke's and Redgate and an after school club at Formby High School. We also run 5 junior hockey sessions throughout the week at Formby Hockey Club.
Pictured with the Waitrose cheque are two of their young players who began playing hockey at primary school in the first year of the project and are now regularly play in the club's women's first team.
They have been selected to attend an England Hockey High Performance Camp.
